The Department of Elementary Education
Student Handbook

Use this book as a reference during your college years

Successful students monitor their progress and are aware of assistance, plans, and departmental news. Such students often make use of the following checklist:

1. Print out a new DAPR at the beginning of each semester from the Current Students web page.

2. Review the DAPR, checking for accuracy of the information.

Special care is taken to review:

  • that the correct major is reported
  • grade point average
  • records of tests required for graduation
  • records of courses completed during the past semester are listed in the correct category of the DAPR
  • name of current advisor
  • decision points:

             decision point 1:   intro course
decision point 2:   admission to TC
decision point 3:   admission to student teaching
decision point 4:   graduation and licensing

3. Schedule an appointment with their advisor at least once during each semester.

4. Attend the student information meetings scheduled throughout the year.

5. Review yearly checklist once each month.

6.  Read emails from your advisor carefully.
