Hi NVfirst grader, kites stay in the air because the wind pushes on them and causes lift. The wind has to be strong enough to be stronger than how much they weigh. Heavy kites need lots of wind. How do you get them down?? you must pull harder than the wind is pushing against them. Sometimes it takes more than one person to bring down a really big kite. Some kites are so big that they can lift up a grown up person.
