| Leaving home young was a fact of playing in the AAGPBL.
Women left home to play in the league as young as 16 years old.
Chaperones accompanied them on many occasions.
|
Originally the baseball played by the women in the AAGPBL
was an altered form of softball. As the league continued, the game
play came closer and closer to that of regulation baseball. |
| |
|
| Even though trading was common throughout the AAGPBL,
the women kept friendships across team lines. Together they were
able to make the AAGPBL a success. |
The AAGPBL afforded women a good chance to break down
some walls developed to divide their work and life opportunities
from men's. Other women's sports leagues since then have continued
that practice and opportunity.
