D in Curriculum Theory and Implementation from the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC in 1998. Her dissertation, Changing Cultures, Changing Teachers: a Study of Structural and Cultural Change, examined the impact of policy decisions on teachers’ professional practice and professional identities. Her research interests focus on the professional development of teachers, action research, curriculum history and theory, issues of equity and social justice, and the intersection of educational policy and professional practice. She is Past President of the Canadian Music Educators Association and, in 2007, was awarded the Executive Award for her contribution to music education in Canada. She serves as graduate advisor for Secondary Education. Barbara is a member of the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Teacher Education, the Canadian Music Educators Association, the Curriculum and Pedagogy group, and serves as Foundation Representative on the Board of Phi Delta Kappa, Ball State University. |
