Department Matters

The Promotion and Tenure Committee has recommended no changes to the Promotion and Tenure Document for AY 2010-2011. Tenure-line faculty will receive a ballot to vote on the 2010-2011 document soon. Please remember to vote and return your ballot as indicated on the materials you receive.

Also, the P&T committee has set dates for the submission of materials for progress towards tenure, tenure, and promotion. Materials for progress towards tenure and tenure are due in the Chairs office by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 1. Materials for promotion are due by noon on Monday, January 11. Details regarding the required format of materials is forthcoming.

The Curriculum Committee has approved the proposal for a Certificate in Gifted and Talented. Paperwork has been forwarded to the College Curriculum Committee.

The Personnel Selection Committee has tentatively approved the recommendation for a tenure-line position. Once final edits are made to the paperwork, a final vote will commence so that paperwork can be forwarded to Dean Jacobson.  Faculty members will receive an FYI copy of the position description at that time.

Spring Class Schedules

Penny is hard at work on the schedule of classes for spring semester. Tenure-line and contract faculty members should see Penny for tentative teaching assignments. Adjunct instructors, including graduate students, should let Penny know of your intentions for teaching in the spring as soon as possible.

Special Assigned Leave Applications

Applications for Special Assigned Leave are available. Applications must be turned into the Department Chair's office by Monday, October 26.  If you have any questions, please talk to me or to Jerrell Cassady (Chair of the University Special Assigned Leave Committee).

Graduate Catalog

The 2010 Graduate Catalog <http://cms.bsu.edu/Academics/CollegesandDepartments/GradSchool/Academics/GraduateCatalog.aspx>  is now online and ready for viewing. If you notice the need for any updates or corrections, please let me know, so that I can forward those to the Graduate School.
