
Scott Trappe, one of the nation's leading researchers in the field of muscle physiology, has been the director of the university's Human Performance Laboratory since 2002.
Accomplishments:
- Leads a team of researchers examining the effect of prolonged space flight on human skeletal muscles through a $1.2 million grant from NASA. The group is also studying aging effects on muscles through a $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.
- Author or co-author of numerous articles and studies and serves as a reviewer and referee for a dozen professional journals and organizations.
- Named outstanding teacher in 2001 and outstanding junior faculty member in 1999 at Ball State.
- Served in the sports medicine and science staff for the U.S. Olympic team selection trials at Indianapolis in 1991.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
- Master's in execise science from the University of Colorado.
- Ph.D. from Ball State University in Human Bioenergetics
- Completed post-doctorate work at Ball State University and Marquette University in muscle physiology.
