
A former executive with SAFECO Insurance Companies in Indianapolis, Curtis Gary Dean brings nearly 25 years of insurance industry expertise to his teaching and research. He teaches classes and conducts research in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and his research activities are affiliated with Ball State's Center for Actuarial Science, Insurance, and Risk Management.
Accomplishments
- Served as vice president and chief actuary of SAFECO Business Insurance.
- Has held memberships in several actuarial and industry advisory committees.
- Is active in the Casualty Actuarial Society and is a frequent speaker at meetings and conferences.
- Is a fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society, a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, and a Chartered Financial Consultant.

- Bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics from Earlham College.
- Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin.
