As the necessity to obtain a college education increases, the importance for high school juniors and seniors to prepare becomes ever more critical. Ball State University's College Transition Program (CTP) bridges the often too distant difference between the college campus and your school to allow you to experience college courses and receive college credit for your work. Through CTP, you can graduate from high school prepared and confident to learn and grow in the competitive world of academia.
Our mission is to foster a partnership between Ball State University and your high school. We provide a convenient and unique way for you, a qualified high school student, to participate in and experience college courses while still in your high school. CTP courses emphasize college level critical thinking and writing skills, exposing students to the rigors and challenges of the college curriculum while teaching them to adhere to college standards. We focus on college preparation by assuring quality instruction and giving you an experience otherwise unattainable before entering college. Qualified teachers from your school and certified by university academic departments will teach these courses. Teachers use course materials consistent with those at the university and conduct the course with the same standards demanded of an on-campus course.
The partnership between your high school and Ball State University' College Transition Program provides an opportunity for you to satisfy a high school credit requirement while simultaneously earning college credit (dual credit), then facilitating a smooth transition from high school to college. Course credit earned through CTP serves to establish a college academic record, the same as if taken on campus, and would apply toward graduation requirements the same as an equivalent course taught on campus. This becomes an educational and occupational benefit to you.
We appreciate your interest in Ball State University's College Transition Program. Your decision to investigate this opportunity will prove to be an important step in preparing yourself for success in your future academic endeavors.
