Admission Information
The registration and admission deadline for distance education and on-site courses is two weeks prior to the start of classes.
Graduate Students: All graduate students must apply to the university. Degree- seeking students must make application for admission to the university via the Graduate School and the academic department offering your degree. Acceptance into the academic department is a separate process from admission to the university and can take several weeks to complete. Therefore, you should begin the admission process six weeks prior to the start of the term. Non-degree or licensure status (in contrast to degree-seeking status) is also available. To obtain a graduate application, call the Graduate School at 1-800-382-8540 or visit their Web site at www.bsu.edu/gradschool/admissions. The graduate application fee is $25 for those who have earned a degree from BSU and $35 for those who have not earned a degree from BSU. Official transcripts are also required. Have transcripts mailed to Ball State University, Graduate School, Muncie, IN 47306.
Regular Undergraduate Admission: Students may apply online at https://www.bsu.edu/webapps2/extedstudent/app/. The undergraduate application fee is $25. Have transcripts mailed to the attention of Linda Parker at Ball State University, School of Extended Education, Muncie, IN 47306 (unless directed otherwise). Guest student status is also available. Students who are age 23 and under must apply through main campus admissions, unless they plan to pursue the AA in General Arts or the Bachelor of General Studies through the Independent Learning Program
If you have never been admitted to the university or have not attended in more than two semesters, you will need to complete an off-campus admission application. Admission through the School of Extended Education is not admission to the main campus. Students who have already earned a bachelor's degree and do not plan on pursuing a second undergraduate degree must complete a graduate admission application.
Non-Degree Undergraduate Admission: A student who wishes to enroll for personal and professional development rather than in pursuit of a degree may apply as non-degree student, provided they are not currently enrolled in another institution or planning to take graduate level courses. Requires a $25 application fee and official high school transcripts or GED scores. Please note that financial aid is not available to non-degree students. The maximum number of semester credits that non-degree students may earn in 31. Students in good academic standing at the conclusion of the semester in which they have completed 20 semester credits may apply for regular admission. If admitted, students will be eligible to pursue degrees.
