Derived from three years of research and development by
Ball State faculty and students, the Relational Portfolio
Model (RPM) model builds upon the reflective model for
developmental portfolios and extends it to a relational
model that uses Web 2.0 techniques and systems as the
student's organizing platform for artifacts and rationales.
RPM supports a longitudinal, developmental, multimedia
portfolio experience in teacher education or any academic
or professional program.

RPM at Ball State, Fall 2009
As part of its ongoing
and nationally recognized initiative with digital
portfolios, the Ball State teacher education program
announces the latest evolution of its reflective,
developmental portfolio model. The Relational Portfolio
Model (RPM) uses Web 2.0 techniques to construct more
sophisticated portfolios in which artifacts, rationale, and
reflections are constructed and organized in a relational
structure, instead of as static web pages. Ball State will
pursue this new model using the familiar RapidWeaver
software combined with in-class, face-to-face training of
students and faculty in introductory teacher education
courses combined with online learning content and on-demand
support.
