What is Computer Science?
Ask ten experts in computer science and you will hear ten different answers to this question! Computer science emerged as its own field of study from its origins in mathematics and engineering. Computer science is an "umbrella" that includes such diverse areas as software engineering, artificial intelligence, databases, multimedia processing, human-computer interaction, and the Web.
What can I do with a degree in computer science?
A computer scientist is a problem-solver. Computers are an excellent tool for solving problems in a huge variety of domains. Some common problem domains include business, government, entertainment, and the sciences.

Many computer science students enter the workforce as software engineers, developing software solutions for a variety of customers. Software engineering is challenging and rewarding: Money Magazine even named Software Engineer the #1 Job in America in 2006!
