The department has proposed major changes to its courses and programs to take effect in the 2008-2010 print catalog. These changes include significant revisions to the options available to majors. In particular, CS majors will have no science requirements beyond those required by the University Core Curriculum and the Linear Algebra course is no longer required. The information systems option no longer includes any courses from outside the department except for some math courses. Instead, this option emphasizes system/network security and administration courses offered by our own department. The hardware option has been dropped. CS majors interested in computer hardware should consider minoring in physics and taking the electronics course sequence.
