Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, sharing it with F. W. de Klerk, the last President of South African under the policy of Apartheid.  Mandela spent 27 years in prison during his struggle to end Apartheid.  Mandela later became President of South Africa, as a result of the nation's first ever fully representative democratic election.
