The Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services at Ball State University is committed to the training and professional representation of students from diverse cultures and ethnic communities. As a reflection of this commitment, the department has established and supported a Multicultural Programming Committee (MPC), consisting of faculty and graduate students.
MPC reviews issues relevant to providing a multicultural perspective in the training of all students in the program. This is supported by MPC working closely with the department to recruit graduate students from cultural and ethnic groups underrepresented in the profession. Also, MPC addresses programmatic issues within the department to ensure positive and productive experiences for culturally diverse students.
MPC looks at celebrating diversity in all its forms and expressions, promoting colloquia on topics related to diversity, creating a forum for students and faculty to discuss topics relevant to the field, and creating opportunities for students and faulty to gain new insights.
In addition, MPC is a place for rejoicing in the diversity that is represented within the department and supports and encourages the creation of an environment that celebrates diversity.
