Doctoral students are advised by the doctoral program director until the student identifies a doctoral advisor, typically by the end of the first semester of the first year of the program. The advisor assists the student in selecting the other members of the doctoral committee, developing a plan of study for the remainder of the doctoral program, preparing for prelims, and preparing the dissertation.

Probationary Admission Policy

There is no option for probationary or conditional admission to the doctoral program in counseling psychology.
