About COR
What is the Center for Organizational Resources?

The Center manages and coordinates employee training programs, consulting projects, workforce development activities, research projects, and seminars for business, industry, healthcare institutions, government organizations, professional associations, and the general public.

The mission of the Center for Organizational Resources (COR) is to partner with organizations in assisting them to improve productivity, enhance employee relations, keep satisfied customers, and remain competitive.   COR establishes long-term relationships with its clients and links them with resources at Ball State University as well as other resources throughout the state of Indiana.

The Center has access to a wide array of resources including Ball State faculty members, a core of professional trainers and consultants, vast research capabilities, modern university facilities, up-to-date technological equipment, and talented administrative support personnel to provide quality programs and customer-focused services to any type of client.   COR also offers the unique advantage of utilizing many different disciplines of the university to help solve problems and develop creative solutions for its clients.   COR is committed to being recognized as the businessperson's university resource for assistance.

Does COR charge for its services?

There is no service charge for initial contact and planning with organizations; however, subsequent in-depth needs assessment, training, consulting, and research services usually involve fees.  Service contracts are made between the organization and Ball State University through a COR representative.  Although public and open-enrollment seminars often require a registration fee, some workshops are periodically offered at no charge.

How quickly can COR respond to my organization's needs?

When you make an inquiry to COR, usually no more than two business days are required between an initial request and a direct personal response.  A COR representative contacts you, determines your need, and immediately begins the search for a resource person who can provide you with that appropriate training or consulting.  Your project can often begin within one month of your initial inquiry.

What types of services are available through COR?

Customized Training Programs:  Both training programs and seminars can be tailored to an organization's specific needs and offered at the client's location.  Working closely with the organization, COR can design training programs and courses for particular managerial, customer relations, technical or procedural skills.  These custom programs are based on an assessment of the organization's environment and its unique training needs.

Contract Consulting: Faculty members and seasoned consultants are available through COR for consulting in many business and technical fields.  They provide specialized expertise and facilitation skills, as well as have access to the necessary resources to help organizations assess, plan, implement, and sustain their desired results.

Professional Development Programs:  Open enrollment workshops and seminars are often offered by COR to the general public.  These programs focus on a variety of professional and self-enhancement issues.  Corporate employees, business leaders, and others advance their knowledge through participation in these programs:  Emerging Leaders    Spanish at Work The SHRM® Learning System Course, and the Certified Training Consultant Institute.

Computer Training: is developed to assist individuals and companies in improving their computer skills.  Instructors include Ball State faculty and computer training experts.  Hands-on training is available in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, as well as Internet usage, web site design, Adobe PhotoShop, and many other practical computer applications.  Courses are offered on the Ball State campus or at convenient locations throughout communities in Indiana.

Manufacturing Skills Center: The Center for Organizational Resources serves as the Local Education Agency for manufacturing facilities in Anderson, Indianapolis, and Marion.  Certified teachers provide services on an individual basis and in small group sessions to UAW active employees, spouses, and retirees on the topics of Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Education Development (GED), High School Completion (HSC), English as a Second Language (ESL), and personal enrichment classes.

What are the unique features of COR services and programs?
