Each service option is listed below with an explanation of each.
Wired Network Connection
Select this option to physically connect a computer to the campus wired
network which provides the fastest connection rates available on campus.
See the next section if you have a printer or copier.
This is the preferred method of connecting any stationary device like desktops,
lab stations, or docking stations. You may also want a wired connection in an
office for laptops so the additional speed is available while the user is in
his/her office.
Network Printer
Many new printers, and some copiers, are what the industry calls MFPs
(Multi-Functional Printers) that can print, copy, email, and/or fax. These
additional features require special setup thus the reason for a separate service option.
There is no need to separately request a fax line for devices that have this capability.
You can request the fax line on the same request as the printer request by selecting
Yes to the "Printer has FAX:" prompt.
Voice/Phone/Fax
This request is used primarily to request a phone and associated features for a new
employee, or to move existing telephony service from one location to another. Besides
requesting a new phone number, you can optionally add voicemail and long distance calling
number services at the same time.
You would also use this to request a FAX line. If you have a printer or copier
that needs a fax line, use the 'Network Printer' request outlined above.
Voicemail
This option lets you add voicemail to, or remove from, an existing telephone number.
You must have an existing phone number to request this service.
Long Distance Code
Like the voicemail option, this is used to add or remove an existing long distance code.
You must have an existing phone number to request this service.
