I believe in examining thepersonal, interpersonal and cultural context of the trainee's therapeutic work, helping them grow in competence, exploring with them what they bring from all these dimensions to the therapeutic and supervisory process. I also see my function as a professional mentor, supporting their growth into the role of a profesional psychologist. I work with trainees to assess their current clinical functioning and to identify their growing edges and challenge them to address those edges while supporting them in their development and experimentation. I see the process as collaborative, involving mutual respect and trust and becoming increasingly collegial over the course of the trainee's development. |
