SPTA 617 - Financial Principles in Sport

Examination of issues and economic forces impacting public and private funding sources relied upon by professional, intercollegiate, and interscholastic sport organizations including allocated funds (i.e. student fees, tax revenue and appropriations) and generated funds (i.e. ticket sales, fundraising, sponsorship, and media rights). Introduces the role of budgeting and financial analysis. Prerequisite: permission of the program coordinator. Open only to physical education and sport: sport administration majors.
