ARCH 229 - History of Architecture 1.

A survey of the major movements in western architecture and urbanism from antiquity through the nineteenth century, and an introduction to developments in venacular and high-style architecture outside the west in pre-colonial and/or colonial periods. Emphasizes how building and urban design express both culture (religious, political, social, economic, technological) and architectural (functional, structural, aesthetic) movements and ideas.
