Students will learn to improve the effectiveness of employees within organizations. The student becomes familiar with ways of analyzing and solving the problems of hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating people. The program emphasizes practical education, internship, and developing the necessary human resource tools. Personnel administration/human resources management careers involve the selection, development, compensation, and motivation of an organization's people. Ball State graduates specializing in human resource management have accepted a wide variety of positions within many different types of firms.

A major in Human Resource Management prepares graduates to assume positions of responsibility and leadership in a wide range of business, government, and civic organizations. Effective leaders and managers are necessary for the success of any organization. Known by many different titles, graduates are involved in every kind of enterprise as managers, administrators, executives, presidents, chairpersons, and officers. Regardless of the title, management involves a common activity--leading employees and co-workers toward common goals, worker empowerment, and creating quality production and services.
