Recent security breaches and threats to the security of data, information, and systems highlight the need for enhanced information systems security.
Ball State University offers a graduate-level security certificate program to prepare individuals as security professionals. Successful completion of the Information Systems Security Mangement Graduate Certificate Program provides both theoretical and hands-on knowledge to handle complex security issues.
Unique Program Structure
The Organizational Assurance and Information Security Center (OAsIS), the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, and the Center for Information and Communication Sciences, have structured a unique program that provides:
- effective preparation for industry-recognized certification (CSSP, CISSP).
- both theory and hands-on opportunities.
- the case study approach for real-world application.
- elective course work for those pursuing a Masters degree.
- weekend courses at a convenient site in Indianapolis.
A Marketable Certificate
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, between the years 2002 and 2012, there will be a 36% increase in the number of security-related jobs, and more than 122,000 additional employees will be hired in the field.
