If you have a photo you would like to put on your site, it needs to be formatted so that it is not too big for your site visitors to view. You will need some kind of image-editing software, for example, Adobe Photoshop.
Open the photo in the image editor. Depending on where you will use the photo, it should probably be resized.
Resizing photos
If the photo will go in an article, about 175-200 pixels wide and 150-200 pixels in height is a good size. Be sure the photo is set to 72 DPI, or dots per inch.
If the photo will go on a cell on a page in the CMS, make the photo the width of whatever cell it is going in.
For example, if you have a page template of 400 pixels by 200 pixels, and the photo is going in a 200 pixel wide cell, resize the photo to 200 pixels wide. The height should re-adjust itself so that it is in scale with the new width.
Graphics
There are two ways to add images to your site. Which way you use depends on what you need.
You may create images, or the office of University Communications can create them for you. However, all banners and navigation images must be requested through the Vignette system before they can be added to a site.
If you need a banner or navigation image, make a request for it using the Image Request system.
