video consumer mapping study
Ball State University's Center for Media Design has been commissioned by the Council for Research Excellence, an independent forum of media industry research experts created by The Nielsen Company, to conduct a $3.5 million nation-wide study shadowing consumers throughout their day, inside and outside the home.

The study will use Insight and Research's observational method used during projects like the widely-recognized Middletown Media Studies.  Observers will follow participants throughout an entire day, recording all of their life activities including going to work, taking care of household chores, consuming media and running errands.

The CRE pilot utilized an observational method similar to that used in the CMD's Middletown Media Studies 2, during which trained observers "shadowed" 50 participants throughout a typical day.
