shopping for a new paradigm

you are shopping for a new paradigm
in the snow, pine trees loaded

with frozen cumulus like a Japanese print
sun glinting in a thousand sticks

of light-prickles into your eyes
reprise of peace in the strong

green of needled branches enameled
against the blue brittle sky

you would like to come home with a really fresh
paradigm, one you could step into

and roam for miles, knowing it was a country
where you were expected

a hologram you are sure hangs
somewhere near, a lure

which has declared you ready,
restless, like a turn of events

just waiting for the protagonist,
the one who’s meant

all along to push open the red gate
that leads inward

to the journey, to a surprise
never-ending story with an up / ending
