For thirty years Joseph Hart has been both a playwright and a teacher of playwriting at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. Three of his full length plays have taken national "firsts," at Aspen, Amherst, and the Philadelphia Festival. He has been published twice in the Best Short Plays series, and his prose poem, "Wiglaf," a sequel to Beowulf, was published in Prairie Schooner. For the past twenty years he has used his work with the late Joseph Campbell in forming a theater ensemble of world folklore, work that has been awarded the Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival and called "two hours of theatrical magic" by The New York Times in its off-Broadway run.
