Rafaella Del Bourgo was raised in Laguna Beach CA and attended UC Berkeley for both undergraduate and graduate studies. She holds an M.A. from the Creative Writing Department of San Francisco State. Currently she teaches English at the college level.
She has traveled all over the world, and lived for eleven months in a hundred-year-old house in Lower Longley, Tasmania. She also lived for five years in Hawaii, sailing amongst the islands.
In the summer of 2000 she was a finalist in the Frances Locke Poetry Competition, and the River Styx Poetry Contest (judged by Billy Collins). In 2004 she won the Lullwater Prize for Poetry. Her first collection of poems, I Am Not Kissing You, was published in 2003.
