These days, practically everyone is well-connected. Who doesn’t have a cell phone, broadband Internet, instant messaging? Who can’t be
reached instantly and anywhere? The information and communications fields are hotter than ever, and there’s every reason to believe that job prospects will continue to be great. A
master of science in information and communication sciences may be just the ticket you need for success in this exciting field.
Ball State's Center for Information and Communication Sciences (CICS) offers solid educational and laboratory experiences for those who wish to have a hands-on role in delivering the Information Age experience to the rest of the world. It’s an interdisciplinary program that revolves around technology, but it’s not simply a technology degree.
CICS students learn to become problem-solvers who design and manage creative solutions to address human needs and challenges in organizations involving information and communication technology (ICT).
Our program:
- combines theoretical and practical learning opportunities in a way that educates professionals in diagnosing information and communication problems
- trains students to use the latest technologies in the selection, design, development, and management of information gathering, processing, storage, and dissemination systems
- connects students with professional opportunities to apply these technologies and ultimately solve information and communication problems in the real world of business, government, education, and nonprofit institutions
Our program features include immersive learning opportunities, the Social Learning Program, industry partnerships, faculty members with a wide range of real-world industry experience, and world-class labs. And you'll enjoy our beautiful, vibrant campus in Muncie, Indiana.
Recruiters from national and regional companies, who have numerous career opportunities, actively seek out Ball State CICS students. Since CICS opened in 1986, graduates have achieved more than a 95 percent placement rate in the field and have starting salaries that typically exceed $50,000.
