HSRs are planning documents that contain thoroughly-researched histories, condition assessments, structural analyses, architectural descriptions, measured drawings and photographic documentation of important historic buildings. The reports provide important base information when planning a rehabilitation or restoration, especially if the historic appearance is unknown, missing elements will be reconstructed, later additions will be removed, or the historic fabric will be modified.
The Center is currently working on eleven HSRs for the State of Indiana, Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Museum and Historic Sites. These projects are also partially funded by a Historic Preservation Fund Grant administered by the Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology and a grant from the Building Better Communities initiative at Ball State. The eleven structures that the Center is preparing reports for are listed below.
- T.C. Steele State Historic Site Master HSR*
- T.C. Steele House HSR
