Research Interests
We are currently involved in the synthesis and study of early transition metal indenyl complexes. This area of chemistry is expected
to yield new classes of organometallic species that are likely to lead to new reaction pathways involving the metal-indenyl bond. Specifically, the slip of an h5 indenyl group to h3 is expected give catalysts or co-catalysts that can pre-coordinate an incoming ligand with the indenyl group h3 and then allow reaction with another ligand with the indenyl group going back to h5. This "reversible access" should enable
us to design molecules that have the strong potential to be active catalysts for the polymerization and/or metathesis of olefins. We are also interested in the chemistry of indenyl metal complexes that contain imido, oxo, sulfido, alkylidene, and alkylidyne ligands.
