Additional Information
The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow in the late 1980s. Today, the Russian National Ballet Theatre is its own institution, with over 50 dancers of singular instruction and vast experience, many of whom have been with the company since its inception. The company focuses on upholding the grand-national tradition of the major Russian ballet works and developing new talents throughout Russia. Giselle is a full-length ballet performed in two acts with music by Adolphe Adam. First performed in 1841, Giselle’s romantic beauty and scenery make it just as popular today as it was 150 years ago. This dreamy tale of innocent love and betrayal tells the story of Giselle, a simple country girl, who falls in love with Albrecht, a prince who visits her village disguised as a peasant. Albrecht, however, is already engaged and Giselle is left brokenhearted.
