Faculty member elected to national board (5/9/2007)

Barbara Giorgio-Booher, an assistant professor of art at Ball State, has been elected to the position of Mid-America College Art Association Representative of the national association of Foundations in Art: Theory and Education (FATE).

New board members and officers were voted in by the membership at the organization's national biennial conference, hosted by the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design on March 28-31. The newly elected board members for 2005-2007 are:

  • President: Scott Betz, Winston Salem State University
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Jeff Boshart, Eastern Illinois University
  • Vice President for Regional Coordinators: Mary Stewart, Florida State University
  • Vice President for Communications: Jerry Johnson, Troy University
  • Vice President for Biennial Conference: Elizabeth Bilyeu, Portland Community College
  • Editor, FATE in Review (journal): Kevin Bell, Fort Lewis College
  • College Art Association Representative: Steven Bleicher, Coastal Carolina University
  • Mid-America College Art Association Representative: Barbara Giorgio-Booher, Ball State University          
  • Southeastern College Art Conference Representative: Debra Ambush, Montgomery County Schools, Clarksburg High School

Foundations in Art: Theory and Education is a national nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to the promotion of excellence in the development and teaching of college-level foundation courses in both studio and art history. Founded in 1977 as an affiliate society of the College Art Association (CAA), members include approximately 400 studio and art history faculty and administrators and more than 40 sponsoring institutions.

FATE sponsors a national conference biannually, regional conferences in interim years, panel sessions at CAA and regional associations, and publishes a professional journal (FATE in Review) and a newsletter.
