Welcome to the Western Avenue Redevelopment Plan!
The City of South Bend and the West Central Business Group, in association with the Community Based Projects Program at Ball State University, worked with neighborhood residents on a redevelopment plan for the area.  The four-mile-long corridor connects downtown South Bend with the U.S. 33 bypass, but has suffered from loss of industry and disinvestment.  The W.A.R.P. seeks to gather information from community residents and to develop a plan to improve economic vitality and the quality of the life for the area.

The CBP Process
A series of community meetings were held to collect opinions of neighborhood residents. Using this information, as well as data gathered from other sources, CBP held a three day community charrette workshop. Students and faculty from Ball State's architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning programs worked to develop ideas for the future of Western Avenue. All were open to everyone in the community!
