Profile
Cynthia Thomas has been an assistant professor in the School of Nursing since 1999. She joined the faculty full time after teaching nursing terminology for a year as an on-line elective course. Her primary focus is undergraduate and graduate studies. Cindy currently teaches the clinical and didactic component of the management course to the senior nursing students, and management/leadership to graduate students.
Cindy has a diverse clinical background. She worked in an intensive care unit for 10 years as well as in medical/surgical, orthopedics, and endoscopy. She also spent 15 years in long-term and assisted living as facility directors. In addition to Leadership & Management, she is interested in women's issues especially divorce. Cindy assist to facilitate a divorce recovery group at her church.
Cindy believes in quality student performance while maintaining a "caring" approach. She believes education is a lifetime endeavor and encourages students to succeed and reach their full potential and career goals. She collaborated with another faculty member to create the "Caring Corner" outside their office areas for faculty and students.
Cindy’s research includes divorce and personal growth for women through the process and topics related to management/leadership. She has presented at national and international nursing conferences on management/leadership issues.
Cindy has created over 20 management/leadership videos to assist students in understanding the concepts. She is also involved in creating management/leadership simulations to prepare students for the graduate nurse role
