1. Be a graduate from a nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
2. Earned a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale OR a GPA of 3.0 in upper-division nursing in the baccalaureate program.
3. Have received credit for an undergraduate research course (at least 2 quarter or semester hours) with a grade of C or better.
4. Hold a current license as a registered nurse in the state of practice.
5. Have current active professional liability insurance.
6. Have a minimum of two years full-time professional nursing experience.
7. Have submitted to the School of Nursing, selected health screening requirments and related professional practice requirments.
8. Have satisfactorily completed the following upper-division baccalaureate nursing courses or equivalent for a total of 16 semester hours:
- NUR 302 Nursing Foundations and Issues
- NUR 404 Community Health Nursing
- NUR 405 Management and Leadership
- Six credit hours of directed electives (Courses selected will depend on master's track chosen; NUR 303 Health Assessment is a required course for the nurse practitioner track but can be taken as an elective.)
The School of Nursing admits students into the master's program three times a year. Deadlines for submission of all material are (February, June, and October). The application to the School of Nursing master's program is available on-line at http://www.bsu.edu/nursing/apply.html.
