School of Nursing, Ball State University
On-line Master's Program Course of Study Overview
You will begin your studies with an introductory course that focuses on the use of information technology in nursing practice, administration, education, and research. Next, you will complete the courses in the nursing core. Finally, you'll progress through the nursing core courses required for the master's as well as the focus area courses for the track you have chosen. All courses are completely on-line. You will arrange required clinical hours with preceptors in your community, subject to faculty approval, and in some cases will need to identify an appropriately qualified individual to serve as an adjunct faculty member.

As you enter the master's program, the Associate Director of the Master's Program will work with you on an individual basis to develop your initial plan of study for the chosen track. You'll then be assigned a faculty advisor who will assist you as you progress through the course sequence to ensure that all requirements are met. Your plan of study is flexible within certain limits, and you will have up to 6 years to complete the program.
