Due to the software needs of the School of Nursing students are encouraged to have Windows based personal computers for use during their nursing studies

Due to the software needs of the School of Nursing students are encouraged to have Windows based personal computers for use during their nursing studies.

Hardware Specifications – Academic Year 2007-2008:

·        Form Factor:  Laptop or Desktop Model computer

·        Processor:  Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6Ghz or higher

·        Memory:  1GB or RAM or more

·        Graphics Card:  128MB or better

·        Hard Drive:  80GB or more

·        Optical Drive:  8x DVD +/- RW / CD-RW or better

·        Operating System:  Windows XP or Vista

·        Monitor:  15” or higher

Software Specifications – Academic Year 2007-2008:

·        Microsoft Office 2003 and above.  (Available through the UCS Showcase Center RB134B for a discount)

Additional Storage:

 

Students have access to 4 GB’s of online storage and FTP web space. In addition to online storage, a flash drive is useful for quickly transferring files between computers [512 MB minimum or larger]. Also, burnable CD’s and/or DVD’s and external hard drives are helpful for backing up files and submitting digital class work but not required.


 Attention incoming freshmen and/or transfer students:

Do not purchase a PDA mobile device until official paperwork has been sent to you.  This information is sent prior to the start of your nursing courses.  If you purchase a PDA mobile device prior to receiving this information your device may become outdated or may not meet the program requirements.
