| Couldn't make it to the workshop?
You can still participate! Review the instructions below,
download the appropriate PDF files, complete a packet and
return it to CAP:IC. Input from the design community is
essential in these guidelines, which will be adopted for the
entire Regional Center zoning area! |
|
|
The workshop team has selected ten
sites/blocks in Critical Issue Area 2, BioCrossroads.
These were selected because they represent prototypical
issues, such as street type and context. The idea is you
produce a hypothetical development on the site that
takes into account the real-life issues that impact that site.
By doing these, we will be able to extrapolate critical
guidelines relevant to those issues.

Download the Critical Issue Area Analysis/Issue Booklet,
in PDF Format.

|
Download a Site Packet, in PDF Format, by
selecting a site from the map below.
Print this packet on 11x17 paper. The packet is scaled,
so it is important to turn off any scaling, "fit to page" or
"shrink large pages" options.

Using this quick online form, register your remote
participation with CAP:IC. This way we know what work is
still out there to anticipate.

Review the Critical Issue Area Analysis/Issue
Booklet and become familiar with the real-life issues and
opportunities affecting your specific site.

Complete the Site Packet for Each Scenario
- 1 Site Plan

Use checkmarks to select variables the "menu of
variables" at the top right of the aerial photo page that
your concept will address. You should select the
issues relevant to your site based on the Analysis/Issue
booklet, but also "hypothetical" options. Be sure to
choose at least one option from each category (FAR,
Mixed-Use, etc)
Develop a plan-view scenario using trace-paper overlay.
Note the 1"-100' scale and 20' grid.
Be sure to label (the what) and explain (the why) the
issues and elements contained in your drawing. For
example, if you have a mid-block mini-park, tell us why
there should be such a park. Keep in mind the ultimate
goal is a set of guidelines, and we need to be able to
extrapolate your site information to broader guidelines.
- 4 Section Views

For each public right of way around your site (street, railroad, park,
stream) develop a section view using the section-view pages.
Note the 1"=10' scale and 2' grid. Again be sure to
label and explain your drawing.
- 1 Isometric View

Using the isometric page, develop a 3-D isometric view of
your scenario, again being sure to label and explain the
drawing.
