| The Regional Center Plan was adopted as a
part of the Comprehensive Plan by the Metropolitan Development
Commission on March 3, 2004. The Plan contains goals,
objectives, and projects and programs to guide Downtown
development for the next 20 years. One of the objectives
developed as a part of the planning process is to "Improve the
quality of project design." One of the projects and programs
that support this objective is to "Develop an independent
design center to foster education, public awareness and
quality of design." The work of the Education Sub Committee is
a key component of the educational process. |
|
|
|
This committee will direct the four speaker workshops and will
coordinate educational opportunities with other organizations
such as AIA, ASLA, IPA, BAGI and MIBOR. |
|
|
In addition to directing the four speaker
workshops, the sub committee should consider the need for
conferences, training sessions and other meetings that might
be appropriate for helping both the Urban Design Oversight
Committee and the general public understand urban design in a
more in-depth manner. This committee will be in charge of
maintaining a schedule of these functions and for the
promotion of these efforts.
