A Landmark Gateway for Our City at I-65 and West Street?  It's About Time!

Five proposals for a major landmark gateway to downtown Indianapolis have been selected from a field of fifteen submissions. It’s time for our experts, stakeholders, northwest district residents, organizations and businesses, and all other interested citizens to narrow these ideas down to one – the final team and it’s design for our future! Please give us YOUR opinion on this website today!

Since 2001, Rotary Club of Indianapolis has partnered with the Mayor’s Office of the City of Indianapolis and an increasing number of local businesses, organizations, governmental and educational institutions to create a unique major gateway for our growing 21st century community.

Fifteen promising sites were identified by a Mayor’s Gateways Workgroup co-chaired by Rotary in 2004. A Gateways Toolbox and this Rotary-City-Ball State maintained website were two results of this effort.

In 2005, Rotary Club of Indianapolis selected one of those sites – a major hub of educational, cultural, medical, historical and residential activities in the area of I-65 and West Street – to be a “Centennial Project” in celebration of Rotary’s 100th anniversary.

The final five proposals for this effort can seen on an interactive area on this website. We need your opinions and ideas!  Click here to view the proposals.

A final decision will be concluded in October and an announced made. This exciting activity will signal a fund-raising and refinement phase and we work toward our city’s future as a distinctive first-tier American destination and a great place to work and grow! IT'S ABOUT TIME FOR AN INDIANAPOLIS GATEWAY!
