| The East Harriet Farmstead neighborhood is connected with Lyndale Park and the Peace Garden through a series of seven sculptural cairns for this gateway. Cairns are piles of stones used throughout history to designate a path, to convey a message, or to help explorers find their way. This gateway encourages people to consider the meaning of peace in their lives, thorough engraved two-word phrases such as "encourage integrity," "remember humanity," and "overcome fear." These phrases were gathered from many sources, including East Harriet community members. The cairns were designed by Teri Kwant and Greg Ingraham in 2003. |
