Research and Projects

Hands-on projects and applied research are the lifeblood of Ball State University's College of Architecture and Planning. CAP's educational mission thrives on developing knowledge, models, and creative and technical skills to solve contemporary design and planning problems.

Students prepare for professional practice by completing a variety of design and research projects for real situations and actual clients. This work may be part of studio and lab courses or graduate thesis requirements, or it may arise from field-based experiences or internships.

CAP faculty also pursue a diverse range of research, practice, and scholarly interests in their fields and often involve students in that work. The research institutes and centers affiliated with the college provide other channels for these endeavors.
