During his tenure as CBP director the program prospered and received numerous awards from state and federal institutions such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), in addition to awards sponsored by not-for-profit organizations. He has participated or chaired over forty urban design workshops within and outside the State of Indiana. From 1999 to present professor Mounayar serves as professor and associate dean of the college of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University. During this tenure The College of Architecture and Planning programs continue to achieve top national rankings for degrees in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Historic Preservation. He has extensive administrative experience including strategic planning, budget management, staffing, alumni relations, fund raising and development. He is also the president of the board of directors of the Architectural Research Centers Consortium (ARCC) one of the most established architectural research associations in the United States. His most recent work has focused on eco-friendly, energy efficient and experimental construction. Recently he led a team of researchers that completed two demonstration homes sponsored by the Vectren Corporation (refer to www.bsu.edu/healthyhomes). Professor Mounayar has been PI or Co-PI on over half a million dollars in research and sponsored projects. Currently Mr. Mounayar is Co-Pi on a new governor's initiative to establish an energy independent community in Reynolds Indiana, code name Bio Town. This project will establish the Town of Reynolds as one of the first communities in the United States to achieve energy self-reliance through renewable agricultural resources. This project has received national attention through press coverage in the New York Times, Wired Magazine, and National Public Radio. |
