The CAP- collection contains records and artifacts originating within the Ball State University College of Architecture and Planning pertaining to environmental design and design education. It covers the period 1968 to the present.
This collection has three components:
1. Projects: drawings and manuscript materials for design projects undertaken by or sponsored by the college, including the Muncie Urban Design Studio and the Community-based Projects Program. CAP- projects are arranged by catalog number.
2. Publications: publications by the college or done with the participation of College personnel. The CAP- publications are in two series. Series 1 includes items about particular events or celebrations and is arranged by date. Series 2 includes publications by or about ongoing programs of the College. These are grouped in categories and arranged alphabetically by category name. Categories include: alumni awards; CAP Indianapolis Center; Community-based Projects program; Design Build; Design Indiana; energy research; faculty publications; foreign study tours; Glue; graduate programs in historic preservation; guest lectures and exhibits; I.C.M.A. design competition; LicketySplit; Lunchline; The MSHP News; Re:CAP; Sappenfield lectures; student publications; urban design charrettes; and Writing in the Design Curriculum.
3. Textiles: commencement stoles and T-shirts. The stoles are those worn by college students and faculty at every spring commencement since about 1983. A different design is used each year, the result of an annual competition open to graduating seniors. The T-shirts were produced for a variety of events including the 1975 World Leisure Environments Symposium, LicketySplit (an annual spring volleyball tournament and festival), and beaux-arts balls.
