A CAP Connection Coordinating Committee is being formed to oversee the program. The committee will be composed of one Alumni Board member for each of the professional disciplines; and one student member from each of the associated student chapters of the professional groups. The Vice-President of the Alumni Board, currently Dean Illingworth, FAIA, will chair the committee. The responsibilities of this committee include identifying and recruiting participants, matching applicants, organizing group events, monitoring and evaluating the program, and maintaining communication with the participants throughout the year,
All Alumni and current students will be notified of the program via email and ECap. Web Links from each of the Indiana Chapter Professional Group web sites are being established, as are links from each of the Student Chapter web sites. The participants---Mentors (Alumni) and Mentees (student) ---should fill out the online registration form to enable the best match of pairs. Notification of the matches will be sent in September 2005 to each participant.
A Kick-Off event will be held on September 30, Alumni Day, as a structured first meeting where the pairs can meet and discuss their goals and expectations. During their first meeting, the pairs can discuss what activities they will do and how often they will meet and communicate. The participants should plan to spend at least some of the day together in an initial face-to-face meeting. Welcome packets including valuable information will be distributed. It is expected that the pairs will communicate a minimum of bi-monthly either face- to-face or by email or phone.
The program is designed to be flexible so each pair can successfully establish their own mentor/mentee relationship and its expected outcome. A list of suggested activities is included to facilitate contact and communication. The only other requirement for participants is a commitment to make the relationship work.
The program officially concludes at the end of the school year, but the mentoring relationship can continue the following year.
The CAP Connection Coordinating Committee will monitor the program throughout the year. They should be contacted with any problems, questions, or comments at anytime throughout the mentoring experience.
