Facilities: Computer Labs

Computer Labs

The College of Architecture and Planning continues to develop comprehensive wired and wireless computer capabilities, keeping pace with rapid changes in technology. The purpose of CAP's computer program is twofold:

  • Promote computer literacy for all students in an ever-increasing range of applications in environmental design and planning
  • Facilitate student and faculty research
CAP has both a computer graphics laboratory with state-of-the-art systems and a microcomputer laboratory with a broad array of computers, printers, plotters, and other peripheral devices. These facilities provide students with full access to current software for Web research, project and report preparation, and graphic design and layout. CAP also has achieved national recognition in geographic information systems (GIS).

VIA Lab
Ball State's Visualization, Imaging, and Animation (VIA) Lab is also located in the Architecture Building. VIA is an instructional lab that helps students learn to use 3-D and time-based digital media applications basic to their disciplines. VIA offers self-paced tutorials, Web-supported instruction, student mentors, and course work. Learn more about the VIA Computer Lab.
