About CAP

With a mandate as Indiana's only state-supported architectural school, Ball State University's College of Architecture and Planning opened its doors to its first class in 1966. The college had just four faculty members, offered a single undergraduate program in architecture, and was housed in a converted naval reserve armory made up of three connected Quonset huts.

Since that modest beginning, CAP has grown into an internationally respected interdisciplinary college with 700 students, more than 50 faculty members, and numerous degree programs in three academic units:

Today CAP is a model for progressive education in environmental design, planning, and preservation, preparing exceptionally bright and diverse students from across the country and abroad for world-changing professional careers.

Located in the award-winning Architecture Building, the college is a unified academic community with interrelated programs, shared resources, and collegial faculty who work closely with students and take a personal interest in their growth and success.
