Inquiry-based learning is engrained in Burris K12 curriculum. Curriculum development is facilitated by school partnerships with museums, an exchange program with a Japanese university laboratory school, a variety of service learning initiatives, a high school May Term of evolving curriculum, K12 participation in electronic fieldtrips and strong technology integration across the curriculum.
The Burris faculty work across grade levels and across disciplines. This collaboration is facilitated by the adoption of a yearly theme (mammals, diversity, community etc.) resulting in a spring K12 public exhibition. The exhibit, as well as publications and performances, showcase faculty/student curricular initiatives and student products and celebrates student learning.
