Hello, I'm Ashley Flannery with the Burris COUNSELING CENTER ANNOUNCEMENTS for the week of March 17th. Students who have not turned in High School schedule requests for next year should do so immediately. You may only do so on paper, as student access to the scheduling section of Powerschool has been turned off. Come to the Counseling Center if you are having problems. You do NOT want to be on Mrs. Maugherman’s Most Wanted poster… BSU pink course request forms, and independent study and internship proposal forms are not due until April 30, but will be accepted any time earlier. Please pick up these forms from the Counseling Center if you are interested. The following is a list of scholarship opportunities. If you are interested in applying for any of them, please come to the Counseling Center to pick up applications: The Dr. Ferrell W. Dunn Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Delaware County high school graduate who enrolls in a premedical school or medical school. Applicants must demonstrate an aptitude and desire to study and practice medicine, financial need, and scholastic achievement consisting of a minimum GPA of 3.0. The application deadline is April 1st. Ivy Tech is offering two scholarships for incoming freshman. One is a $500 Merit Award and the other is a $1,500 Freshman Honors Award. The scholarship application deadline is April 30th. The Michael Lautzenheiser Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a Delaware county senior who demonstrates financial need, integrity, faith, sportsmanship, friendship, and service. Applications must be postmarked by April 7, 2010. The Lions Club of District 25-D is offering two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.5 and complete an essay as part of their application. The deadline to apply is April 1st. If you are a senior who plans to attend Ball State, Anderson, or Ivy Tech in the fall, you may want to apply for the Indiana Trust and Investment Management Company scholarship. This award will be worth $1,000 or $1,500. The postmark deadline is March 26th. For more information, visit www.indtrust.com/muncie/scholarships. Western Michigan University is hosting two visit days for high school Juniors. One is on March 20th and the other is April 10th. If you are a junior who is interested in Western Michigan, come to the Counseling Center if you want to learn more about these open houses. The answer to last week’s Question of the Week is B.
