My return to Thursday Night Rec

:[ April 16th, 2007

My return to TNR

A couple of weeks ago I went to Thursday Night Rec for the first time this semester. I needed to take a break and get my grades in order, so I hadn’t been attending the group regularly this semester. At Thursday Night Rec we played wheelchair basketball and wheelchair soccer. Both games I enjoy playing a lot. They give you an excellent workout and they are competitive and fun. I wish had gone more this semester because going last week reminded me why I like attending Thursday Night Rec so much. Next semester I plan to get involved earlier and keep involved the entire semester.

Thursday Night Rec is a lot of fun and open for anyone to come. We learn how to play games with individuals with disabilities. The games range from wheelchair basketball to sitting volleyball to a scavenger hunt. I would encourage anyone who is interested in learning about these types of games to attend. Unfortunately, the group is done for the semester, but for sure it will start up again next semester each Thursday night at 7. Keep this in mind and I look forward to seeing any of you who can come next year.

Spring Break

:[ March 20th, 2007

Well I hope everyone had a relaxing week. My Spring Break actually was very good because I was suppose to stay in Muncie and work, however I was able to get Sunday through Thursday off at the last minute. I was able to go to my parents’ house in Lebanon, IN.

It was extremely relaxing because I didn’t take any homework and I just sat around all day and did nothing. I hung out with some old high school friends, one who I played football with in high school and another who I was in band with. It was nice to be able to hang out and have no responsibilities whatsoever.

Now it is back to work. I have to study really hard for a test I have this week in History. It is definitely taking me some time to get back into the school mode and it is a struggle to get my head back into studying and getting assignments done. I am actually going to try to get ahead so that I am not in such a crunch at the last minute. That is a REALLY GOOD IDEA FOR EVERYONE – especially those who are here for the first time. I hope you all have a great week and until next time.

Fun

:[ March 2nd, 2007

Well it has been a very good couple of weeks for me. The first week I got my test back from my Archeology class and I was definitely happy with my grade. We also took a pop quiz and I felt good about that grade as well. This class is really neat because it is interesting to see what people did 10,000 years ago and also how we are finding clues to the past. It is also cool because we get to go to the lab and see how they clean the artifacts they find and how they analyze them. My hope is to maybe get some pictures to put on here when we go.

This weekend my girlfriend came and we celebrated Valentines’ Day. Saturday we went to the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis, which was a lot of fun because I hadn’t been there for a couple of years. I had heard they were working on a dinosaur site and a new stain glass site was there as well. The two sites I enjoyed the most were the dinosaurs and the stain glass. The dinosaur I read that they used actual fossils to make them and there cool lights for the sky that would change with the weather sounds that were playing. The dinosaur site also had a place where you could meet the paleontologists and how they prepared the fossils. One thing that was interesting was that I realized that it doesn’t matter how old you are you can always learn something from the Children’s Museum. We also went to the planetarium and watched a video about the constellations and how they were created.
It was really neat to see how they could work the glass and create different figures and landscapes with the glass. There was different stain glass arts that other people have created displayed around as well. There was the big stain glass tower the many people know about and it starts at level 1 and goes all the way to the ceiling. It truly is a unique piece of art and is really cool to look at. Here are some pictures from those two sites. The whole trip was really awesome and it was nice to be a kid again for a couple of hours and walk around the museum and remember all the old times and also create new memories. I hope you enjoy the pictures and until next time.

Winter Weather

:[ February 15th, 2007

Well it is definitely winter weather now. We have had a couple of VERY cold weeks and the one thing that is a killer is trying to walk to class in freezing cold weather. I just got done with test in two of my classes that I was afraid I might not do well in and it feels like a burden has now been lifted off my shoulder. I have been studying non- stop for the last two weeks because I have had test every week and I have one next week. I think I am going to take 1 or 2 days and just relax a little bit and enjoy life. My girlfriend is coming this weekend to celebrate Valentines Day and I am looking forward to that a lot, but I also need to keep focus on school and the test next week. I have taken the next step of becoming my own adult and I am buying a new car. I am finding out real fast the living life on my own is Awesome, but also VERY expensive. I am excited to get a new car, but also trying to stay patient because I know it will get VERY expensive and that I need to make sure to keep up with my responsibilities with maintenance and insurance. Also we just had 2 days with classes being cancelled, which for Ball State is historic because it has been a while since the school had been canceled due to weather. It was nice and it kind of feels like I am back in high school, but I also know that  school will be held tomorrow and it is going to feel weird going back to class and having to wake up early. I also have to dig my car out because right now it is stuck under a huge pile of snow plus the plows have plowed snow right behind it. Well I hope the rest of the week goes well for all of you and I am working on a series of videos to get on here for everyone to enjoy. Til next time.

Busy

:[ February 1st, 2007

Well,

With the start of the new semester it is also time to start TNR (Thursday Night Rec) back up. This semester is going to be busy with classes, work, TNR, and trying to make some time for me. My classes are taking a lot of my time because I am trying to get things done ahead of time so I am not scrambling at the last minute to get my work done. It is a lot to juggle plus I am trying to work out a new situation with my car, which takes money, and right now I am a little low in that area. Alright I am a lot low in that area, but I am hoping to save up enough to put some back for the future and save to start paying off my loans, which everyone knows how fun those are. I am looking forward to getting everything organized for this semester and also I am hoping to put more videos up. Hope everything is going well for everyone and everyone is having an excellent start to their year. Bye for now.

A New Beginning

:[ January 17th, 2007

Well the first week of school is over and also the three day weekend we had. The first week wasn’t as bad as I thought and my classes are looking pretty good for the most part. My classes are spread out throughout the week and this semester I have a Friday class which is a big bummer because last semester it was nice having a three day weekend every weekend. I had to work over the break so I didn’t get to go anywhere, but is was still relaxing and a nice break from all the work with school. This semester I am going to be a lot more busier the last because I have more classes, which means more homework and I am still striving for my goal of all A’s and B’s and mostly A’s. It is also beginning to snow here and get into the freezing cold temps. I am more of a warm weather type of guy and I like to go hiking in the spring and be able to go outdoors and run or play basketball. I don’t mind going to the gym on campus to play basketball, but it means I have to drive to Ball State. One of the best things about living in the dorms was that I was central to everything at Ball State. Well, anyways, I can’t wait until spring, but I am going to try to enjoy the snow as much as possible since we are just now getting it. I did miss having a white Christmas a little bit. Well I hope everyone had an excellent start to their semester and a relaxing three day weekend.

Happy New Year

:[ January 1st, 2007

Happy New Year everyone!!!

I hope that everyone had a fun and safe New Year celebration lastnight. I was at work, which really wasn’t all that fun, but I did get to see the ball drop at the hotel. I hope everyone had a peaceful and relaxing holiday as well. I got sick with the 24 hour stomach flu on Christmas Eve, but was up and going again on Christmas Day, but a little weak. What a way to spend Christmas Eve, but honestly, it wasn’t that bad plus I was with my family and Christmas was still really fun and relaxing. My girlfriend also spent about a week with me for the holidays and we had a lot of fun and exchanged presents. We also cooked a big dinner for Christmas and it was delicious. We went to see my family because she hadn’t seen them for a long time and she wanted to see them for Christmas and they wanted to see her. I am now spending my days resting because school is about to start and that means the start of another hard semester for me and I want to start fresh and get all A’s and B’s this semester. Til next time I hope everyone had a good holiday break and has a good start to their the semester.

:[ December 21st, 2006

Well, my finals are now over and I can rest for the next 3 weeks. My girlfriend is now here to celebrate Christmas with me and then she has to go back home to Ohio and I will be going to my parents house for a few days for our family Christmas. Finals were tough and I was pretty stressed throughout my final exams, but the sense of relief that I got afterwards was awesome. I always get that feeling because I have nothing to do and I can finally do what I want to do, when I want. I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday.

Bye for now

Chris

:[ December 15th, 2006

Well this is the start of my finals week it was nice because my finals didn’t start until friday the 15th. Unfortunately on monday I had an appointment with the nuerologist and I had to get my wisdom tooth pulled on wednesday so it hasn’t been the most relaxing three days to be able to study so I am kind of cramming right now. Usually I start studying in the beginning of the week to get a head start, but with all that was going on I just couldn’t concentrate on school. So now I am cramming for my finals in hope that I can do decent on them. Usually finals week is pretty nice because I have a lot of extra time since there are no classes. It is always good to use your time wisely and study so that you don’t have to cram, kind of like I am currently doing. Well I just wanted to take a break from studying to write and I should probably get back to it. I hope all of your finals go well and that you have a Happy Holiday. Til next time

:[ December 5th, 2006

Hey everyone

This weekend I went to the Zoo in Toledo with my girlfriend. It was really nice to be able to get out and relax, especially because finals are coming. We saw a lot of lights and it was cool to see some of the animals, but a lot of them were inside because it was pretty cold. They had a giant tree in the gardens area filled with lights. Quite honestly, it lit up just about the whole area. One of the coolest parts is that they had the elephant inside, but you could go in and see her and her baby that she had this summer. I don’t remember ever really being that close to an elephant and such a size. She was huge, she leaned on the railing and I was just hoping that railing was strong enough to hold her because if not it would have been a stampede (of humans). She was really cool and she really cared after her baby and protected it. We also went to the Valentine theatre to see the play A Night Before Christmas. It was a really cool and really good. Our seats were awesome. We sat in box seating, which was nice because I will probably never ever get to sit in them again, but my girlfriend bought the tickets and thought it would be cool to sit there, she was most definitely right.  Til next time
